What's in the Box
- Silent Angel Bonn N8S network switch
- Power supply
- Quick start guide
Overview
The Silent Angel Bonn N8S is a Hi-Fi grade audiophile network switch from the refreshed S Series, built by network audio specialist Thunder Data. It sits between your router and your streamer, cleaning and reclocking the network feed so the digital front end of your system receives a quieter, better timed signal. It offers a flexible port array of two SFP optical cages plus three RJ45 Gigabit ports, letting you isolate and route your critical audio path with intent.
Engineering is where the N8S earns its place. It uses high-DCRR high-temperature network transformers, Japanese audio-grade capacitors including electrolytic, WIMA MKP film and X7R or better MLCC types, and a multi-stage high-current linear LDO power supply built around an ADI LT3042 front stage feeding three SGM2208 regulators. A dedicated 0.1 ppm TCXO master clock reclocks the data to reduce jitter passed downstream. Together these measures lower the electrical noise and timing error that reach your streamer.
The Bonn N8S is for the listener who has invested in a capable streamer and wants to address the network stage that feeds it. A switch makes no sound on its own; it improves the streamer or server it serves. This is a new pre-order product scheduled for October 2026, and it is available to pre-order now.

How the N8S Compares
Silent Angel N8S vs Silent Angel Bonn N8C
The Bonn N8C sits a step up in the range and adds an eight port configuration with further refinements aimed at systems that need more connections and the fullest expression of the Bonn design goals. The N8S concentrates its engineering into a compact SFP plus RJ45 layout for a focused audio path. Choose the N8C if you want more ports and the higher tier build; choose the N8S for a streamlined, optically capable node feeding a single critical streamer. See the Silent Angel Bonn N8C.
Silent Angel N8S vs Silent Angel Bonn N8
The Bonn N8 is the step down and established the character of a quiet, well clocked audiophile switch. The N8S refreshes that lineage with SFP optical connectivity and its multi-stage LT3042 based linear power stage. Both aim to lower network noise before the streamer; the N8S adds optical isolation flexibility for those who want a galvanically cleaner leg into their audio node. See the Silent Angel Bonn N8.
Silent Angel N8S vs Matrix Audio SS-1
The Matrix Audio SS-1 is an audio grade switch with its own design philosophy and voicing. The Silent Angel N8S leans on its TCXO master clock, linear LDO power and SFP optical ports to shape how it presents the network feed. Both target the same job of cleaning the network stage; the choice comes down to which system character and connectivity mix suits your setup. See the Matrix Audio SS-1.
Works With These Silent Angel Components
The Bonn N8S makes no sound on its own; it cleans and reclocks the network feed so the streamer it serves runs quieter and with better timing. Pair it with a Silent Angel streamer or transport, and add a Forester supply or Genesis clock to push the front end further.
-
Silent Angel Munich M1T V2 A pure streaming transport that benefits directly from a cleaner network feed, passing a quieter digital signal to your DAC.
-
Silent Angel H1 The Bremen H1 streamer adds a dual ES9039Q2M DAC and a display; feeding it through the N8S lowers upstream noise before conversion for cleaner timing.
-
Silent Angel Rhein Z1C V2 A reference tier streamer whose performance scales with a quieter network stage, making the N8S a natural front end companion.
-
Silent Angel Forester F1 A linear DC power supply that can further lower the noise floor of the switch and connected components for cleaner playback.
-
Silent Angel Genesis GC A master clock generator that can tighten timing across a compatible chain, complementing the switch's reclocking role.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Silent Angel Bonn N8S?
It is a Hi-Fi grade audiophile network switch from the refreshed S Series, built by Thunder Data to clean and reclock the network feed reaching your streamer.
Does the Bonn N8S make sound on its own?
No. A network switch produces no sound by itself; it improves the streamer or server it serves by lowering network noise and reducing timing error in the digital feed.
How many ports does the N8S have?
It provides two SFP optical cages plus three RJ45 Gigabit ports, for a total of five connection points.
What is the SFP option used for?
The SFP cages allow an optical fiber connection, which can give a galvanically isolated, electrically quieter leg into your audio node when paired with suitable modules and cabling.
What clock does the N8S use?
It uses a dedicated 0.1 ppm TCXO master clock to reclock the data and reduce jitter passed downstream to the streamer.
How is the power supply designed?
It uses a multi-stage high-current linear LDO topology with an ADI LT3042 front stage feeding three SGM2208 regulators for low noise power delivery.
What capacitors are used inside?
Japanese audio-grade capacitors are used, including electrolytic, WIMA MKP film and X7R or better MLCC types.
What are the network transformers?
The N8S uses high-DCRR high-temperature network transformers to help lower the noise floor of the network stage.
Where does the N8S sit in my system?
It sits between your router or upstream network and your streamer, so the streamer receives a cleaner, better timed feed.
Will the N8S improve my streaming sound?
It aims to improve how your streamer performs by lowering electrical noise and timing error in the network feed; the audible result depends on your streamer and system.
Which streamers pair well with the N8S?
Silent Angel streamers and transports such as the Munich M1T V2, Rhein Z1C V2 and Bremen H1 pair naturally, since each benefits from a cleaner network stage.
Can I add a linear power supply?
You can pair a Silent Angel Forester linear DC power supply to further lower the noise floor of your front end where compatible.
Can I add an external clock?
A Silent Angel Genesis master clock generator can tighten timing across a compatible chain, complementing the switch's own reclocking role.
How does the N8S differ from the Bonn N8C?
The N8C is a step up with an eight port configuration and higher tier build, while the N8S offers a focused SFP plus RJ45 layout for a single critical audio path.
How does the N8S differ from the Bonn N8?
The N8S refreshes the N8 lineage with SFP optical connectivity and its multi-stage LT3042 based linear power stage for added isolation flexibility.
Is the N8S available now?
It is a new pre-order product scheduled for October 2026 and is available to pre-order now.
Do I need special cables for the SFP ports?
The SFP cages require compatible SFP modules and appropriate fiber cabling to make an optical connection; RJ45 ports use standard Ethernet cabling.
Is the N8S Roon compatible?
The switch simply passes and cleans network traffic, so it works transparently with Roon and other platforms running on your streamer or server.
What warranty does the N8S carry?
It is covered by a 2 year parts and labor warranty from Silent Angel for the original owner.
