Luxman E-07 MM/MC Phono Preamplifier (Used)

A used Luxman E-07 in excellent, like-new condition. Please see pictures for condition details. Please note that no factory warranty applies. The E-07 is Luxman's reference-grade standalone phono preamplifier, developed as part of the company's centennial anniversary lineup and designed to set a new benchmark in analog front-end performance. It is an all-solid-state, non-feedback RIAA equalizer amplifier with fully independent left and right channel circuitry, built to handle both moving magnet and moving coil cartridges at the highest level.

The MC input stage is built around newly developed step-up transformers using super permalloy cores — two independent units per channel covering Low and High gain configurations — providing an exceptionally responsive and low-distortion path for even the most demanding low-output MC cartridges. The primary amplification stage parallels four individual FETs per channel for an extremely low noise floor, achieving a signal-to-noise ratio of 88dB in MM mode, 81dB in MC-High mode, and 78dB in MC-Low mode, with total harmonic distortion of just 0.003%. RIAA accuracy is rated at within 0.1dB for MM and 0.3dB for MC across the full audio band. A front-panel six-position rotary impedance selector covers 4.7, 10, 40, 100, 300, and 1,000 ohms for MC cartridges, while rear-panel DIP switches allow MM users to select from four load impedance settings and four capacitance loading options — a level of MM flexibility rarely found even on dedicated phono stages at any price.

Grounding is addressed through Luxman's petal-shaped grounding structure, which consolidates each circuit's signal reference point into a single location using extra-thick steel plates at identical low impedance and uniform distance from each section. Each of the three inputs — one balanced XLR pair and two unbalanced RCA pairs — has its own dedicated phono ground terminal, with a separate frame ground terminal connected directly to the chassis. The bottom of the chassis is formed from two stacked ultra-thick copper plates totaling 3.6mm, enhancing ground mass, lowering the center of gravity, and maximizing rigidity. Density gradient cast iron insulator feet provide further vibration isolation. Front-panel features include an Articulator switch for continuous cartridge and transformer demagnetization during playback, a low-cut filter to suppress woofer instability from warped records, a mono mode switch for mono record playback, and a phase inversion switch. Both balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA outputs are provided.
