The FiiO Warmer R2R is a desktop digital to analog converter built around a discrete R2R ladder rather than an off the shelf delta sigma chip. The ladder is fully differential and assembled from high precision thin film resistors, 48 per channel, and its output passes through a tube buffer stage running four JJ Electronic E88CC valves. The name describes the intent: the combination is voiced for a fuller, warmer presentation than a conventional desktop DAC.
Two mechanical VU meters sit on the front and move with the music rather than being a screen animation. A low noise linear power supply feeds it, digital sources connect over USB-C, optical or coaxial, and it outputs on balanced XLR as well as single ended RCA, so it will drive a balanced or an unbalanced amplifier. A switch selects UAC 1.0 or UAC 2.0 for USB compatibility, with no drivers needed. This is the silver finish.
