Buchardt Audio E50

The Buchardt E50 is a passive two way standmount built in Denmark in Buchardt's own factory. A 6.5 inch PURIFI extended stroke woofer loads a sealed cabinet with two 6 inch low mass passive radiators instead of a port, and a 1 inch custom Scan-Speak textile dome with a waveguide takes over at 2000 Hz. The cabinet is solid European wood in 19 mm and 28 mm panels, finger jointed, braced and damped inside, and the speakers terminate in Argento Audio five way posts with an iron free construction and brass locking handles.

Sensitivity is 84 dB anechoic and about 87 dB in room into a 4 to 6 ohm load, which reads 29 Hz of in room bass out of a cabinet 15.5 inches tall. That combination wants a genuinely capable amplifier rather than a small one, and it is why these play far larger than their footprint suggests. This is the passive E50, not one of Buchardt's active models, so it needs an amplifier and a source. E50 cabinets were offered in solid oak finishes including natural, smoked, charcoal, mahogany and stained black, in standard and rounded styles, so see the photos for the finish on this pair.
