Technics SL-1300G

The Technics SL-1300G is the hi-fi member of the current G series, built on the SL-1200GR2 chassis but fitted with the platter and motor from the dearer SL-1200G, and without the strobe and pitch slider that mark out the DJ decks. The coreless direct drive motor is governed by Technics Delta Sigma Drive, which suppresses the vibration a direct drive motor makes as it corrects itself, so rotation stays accurate without the motor telegraphing into the record. A three layer platter and a two layer high rigidity chassis sit on high damping silicon insulators, and the power supply is a low noise, low voltage design kept away from the signal path.

This one is the fully configured version in silver rather than a bare deck. It was originally bought as the SkyFi Audio Herb Reichert Bundle, the package SkyFi put together to match the specification Herb Reichert arrived at in his Stereophile review of the SL-1300G: a Hana SL MK II low output moving coil cartridge mounted in a DS Audio DS-001 headshell, professionally aligned and calibrated to the arm. It plays properly the day it arrives instead of needing a cartridge bought and set up on top of the purchase price.
