Amphion Argon 1

The Amphion Argon 1 is the compact standmount in the Finnish maker's Argon family, handmade in Finland to the same acoustic principles Amphion applies across its studio and home lines. It pairs a 5.25 inch aluminum woofer with a 1 inch titanium dome tweeter seated in Amphion's 5th generation U/D/D waveguide, which time aligns the drivers and controls dispersion so the tonal balance stays stable across the room and off axis.

A signature of the design is the low 1,600 Hz crossover, which hands off to the tweeter well below the usual point and keeps the critical midrange the work of a single driver for clarity and coherence. The vented two way cabinet reaches down to 45 Hz within a 6 dB window, delivering more low end weight than the small footprint suggests.

Rated at 86 dB sensitivity and a friendly 8 ohm load, the Argon 1 suits amplifiers from 25 to 150 watts and is comfortable close to walls or on shelves. It is offered in Standard White, Full White, Black, and Walnut with interchangeable grille colors, and is covered by a five year warranty.
