The PSB Passif 50 is a 2-way bookshelf loudspeaker designed by PSB founder Paul Barton, drawing on decades of research conducted at Canada's National Research Council. Each enclosure houses a 1-inch aluminum dome tweeter and a 5.25-inch polypropylene-coated woofer, the latter loaded in a rear-ported bass reflex cabinet tuned for extended low-frequency output beyond what the compact form factor would suggest. Frequency response is rated at 68Hz–23kHz, sensitivity at 87dB (2.83V/1m), and nominal impedance at 8 ohms — an easy load for a wide range of amplifiers and receivers.
The crossover is an internally mounted passive network engineered for smooth driver integration and controlled off-axis dispersion, contributing to the wide, stable soundstage that characterizes PSB's design approach. Cabinet construction is braced and finished to a high standard, reflecting PSB's positioning of the Passif 50 as a long-term reference-grade standmount at its price point.
Offered here as a matched pair. Stands are not included.
