Advance Paris X-FTB02

Overview

The Advance Paris X-FTB02 is a compact Bluetooth receiver designed to add wireless streaming to an existing audio system. Rather than replacing your amplifier or source, it slots in alongside it, giving your setup the ability to play music from a phone, tablet, or computer over Bluetooth. It is aimed at listeners who love their current integrated amplifier or classic system and simply want a clean, convenient way to stream.

Built in the French house style that Advance Paris is known for, the X-FTB02 pairs simple operation with a genuine focus on sound quality. It keeps the signal in the digital domain and hands it to the Advance Paris unit it is fitted to, so the converter you already paid for does the conversion rather than a second one inside the module.

For anyone building a system around Advance Paris amplifiers, the X-FTB02 is a natural companion. It is a low fuss, high value way to bring wireless music into a serious two channel setup without altering the character of the amplifier and speakers you already enjoy.

How the X-FTB02 Compares

Advance Paris X-FTB02 vs Advance Paris WTX-Tubes

The WTX-Tubes sits higher in the Advance Paris range and adds a tube output stage that lends a warmer, more textured character to wireless playback. The X-FTB02 is the more straightforward, compact solution focused on clean streaming into any input. Choose the WTX-Tubes if you want the tube flavor and a more elaborate presentation, and the X-FTB02 if simple, tidy Bluetooth is the goal. See the Advance Paris WTX-Tubes.

Advance Paris X-FTB02 vs Advance Paris X-FTB01

The X-FTB01 is the model directly below the X-FTB02 and covers the same core purpose of adding Bluetooth to an existing system. The X-FTB02 builds on that foundation with expanded connectivity for both analog and digital use. If you need the extra output flexibility to pair with a DAC or DAC equipped amplifier, the X-FTB02 is the more accommodating choice. See the Advance Paris X-FTB01.

Advance Paris X-FTB02 vs REL Acoustics Arrow Wireless Subwoofer System

Both are accessories that expand a system wirelessly, but they serve very different roles. The REL Arrow Wireless is a transmitter system for connecting a subwoofer without a cable run, addressing the low end. The X-FTB02 is a Bluetooth receiver for adding streaming as a source, so many systems could use both for different purposes. See the REL Acoustics Arrow Wireless Subwoofer System.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Advance Paris X-FTB02?
It is a Bluetooth module that plugs into the proprietary module port built into compatible Advance Paris amplifiers and streamers, turning that unit into a Bluetooth endpoint. It is not a standalone box.

Does it replace my amplifier?
No. It fits inside a compatible Advance Paris amplifier or streamer and adds Bluetooth to it.

How does it connect to my amplifier?
Through the proprietary module port on compatible Advance Paris units. It does not connect through a normal line input, so it cannot be added to an amplifier that lacks that port.

Does it have its own DAC?
No. It passes a digital signal to the host unit, so the converter already in your Advance Paris component does the work and the signal is converted once rather than twice.

What can I stream from it?
Any Bluetooth capable device such as a phone, tablet, or computer can send music to the X-FTB02.

Will it work with older or vintage amplifiers?
No. It needs the proprietary module port found on compatible Advance Paris units. For a vintage or third party amplifier you want a standalone Bluetooth receiver such as the Advance Paris WTX-Tubes.

Can I use it with a separate DAC?
Not directly. It is a module rather than a standalone box, so its digital output feeds the Advance Paris unit it is fitted to.

What Advance Paris amplifiers pair well with it?
It works well with integrateds like the A10 APEX, A12 APEX, X-i75, and A8 APEX, among others in the range.

How is it different from the X-FTB01?
Both are Bluetooth modules for compatible Advance Paris units. The X-FTB02 is the current model and carries the wider codec set, including aptX HD.

How is it different from the WTX-Tubes?
The WTX-Tubes adds a tube output stage for a warmer character and sits higher in the range, while the X-FTB02 is the compact, straightforward option.

Is it easy to set up?
Yes. You connect it to an amplifier input, power it on, and pair your device over Bluetooth.

Does it need to be near my amplifier?
It connects to your amplifier by cable, so it should be placed within reach of the input you plan to use.

Can it stream to multiple rooms?
It is a single zone Bluetooth receiver intended to add streaming to one system at a time.

Does it include a remote?
Playback is controlled from the connected Bluetooth device, so you use your phone or tablet to manage music.

What is the range of the Bluetooth connection?
Bluetooth range depends on your environment and device, and works best within the same room without obstructions.

Is it a good value?
Yes. Advance Paris is known for strong value, and the X-FTB02 is an affordable way to add streaming to a system you already own.

What is included in the box?
It comes with the receiver, a power supply adapter, a Bluetooth antenna, a user manual, and warranty documentation.

What is the warranty?
It carries a 2 year parts and labor warranty, extendable to 3 years with registration within 30 days.

Can I add a CD player to the same system?
Yes. You can pair it with a source like the Advance Paris ACD APEX CD player for both disc and wireless playback into your amplifier.
