Accuphase E-4000 Integrated Stereo Amplifier (USED)

The E-4000 is the 12th generation of Accuphase's flagship Class AB integrated amplifier lineage, representing a significant step forward from its predecessor, the E-480. The power amplifier section delivers 180 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 260 watts into 4 ohms, built around a four-fold parallel push-pull configuration of bipolar transistors and a balanced transmission design based on the instrumentation amplifier principle — pushing noise and distortion suppression to exceptional levels. A guaranteed damping factor of 800 — 33% higher than the E-480 — gives the E-4000 commanding control over virtually any loudspeaker load.

At the heart of the preamplifier section is Accuphase's proprietary AAVA (Analog Vari-gain Amplifier) volume control, which eliminates all variable resistors from the signal path entirely. Combined with the ANCC (Noise and Distortion Canceling Circuit), the E-4000 achieves approximately 20% lower noise than its predecessor, with a signal-to-noise ratio of 109dB on line inputs. The power supply is anchored by a massive high-efficiency toroidal transformer and 40,000μF of filtering capacitance. A built-in MM/MC phono stage, balanced XLR and RCA inputs, pre-out and main-in connectivity, and two optional expansion slots for add-on modules such as a DAC or additional phono board round out a thoroughly considered and beautifully built package.
